About BettyCooks

Chef Betty Pena is a Latina chef from the Bronx that specializes in Latino and Pan Asian cuisine. She won a half-tuition scholarship sponsored by Zabar’s through C-CAP. She has been affiliated with C-CAP since 2007. She attended The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College and graduated in 2009 with her Associate degree in Culinary Arts and has been cooking in NYC's coolest restaurants for the past 13 years, including Momofuku and Rice & Gold!

During the shutdown, she started her small business at home making small batches of Coquito and delivering it to people in the inner boroughs. It was very popular and so other people started making coquito and so Betty decided to make another product to set herself apart and created her recipe for chili oil.
